The calculation of the nationalists’ economics were not realistic. The taxes they wished to collect from the North Sea would have not compansated the extra costs of a new state. The huge Scottish administration is now funded from Westminster. And in any case, oil is running out. And from the political aspect, te world and Europe does not need turbulence from emerging new and new countries. The experience gained from this referendum is that it is very easy to cut a nation into two. Most probably, and from the diplomatic point of view a new Scottish government would have been isolated and be a minor player in the world. So may be they saved themselves a dissapointment.
